Check out Between Women Season one.

In Between Women season 1, we meet Brooke & Allison flirting in a local grocery store. The two seem to have split up to grab things which lead Allison down the “chip aisle” having a casual conversation with another masculine woman. Although the conversation might be viewed as flirty, we learn that the young lady lives in the same apartment complex as Brooke & Allison. Brooke who is on the phone with God knows who, spots someone talking to Allison and ends the call immediately to storm down the aisle to introduce herself. She walks up and introduces herself as “her” girlfriend with anger inside of her soul. Allison who is extremely embarrassed has no words to possibly cover up Brooke’s intrusive behavior.

The young lady gestures for her and Brooke to shake hands in which Brooke ignores her and is ready to leave the store. Allison awkwardly thanks the young lady for the “chip tip” and walks off. I wonder how long the two have been living in the apartment complex for Brooke to have never met who we find out later is the maintenance girl? I definitely got the vibes since Brooke had never met her, that she was the caregiver and Allison may have been the one who stayed home.

Brooke immediately went as far as accusing Allison of “messing” with the young lady. We get the sense that Allison may be shocked that, yet again she is accused of messing with someone and seems very uncomfortable.

Brooke gets extreme and tells Allison that they’re moving and grabs her up to let her know she means business. The young lady looks on, but wants no parts of it. This is heartbreaking to me, to see a woman being abused and not help, assist or even stick around to see if she is OK. It’s our reality as black women, super disappointing, but Black women are often times left alone to defend for themselves.

As Brooke grabbed Allison’s arm and stated “You’re my girlfriend.” At this point it was clear to me that Brooke has detachment issues and felt a need to remind Allison that she was her girlfriend suggesting that, that title allowed her to do whatever she wanted to with Allison. Allison leaves her ass in the store alone to not just look foolish, but to pay for the groceries. We are left speechless at what just happened and didn’t quite expect the relationship to take a turn that quickly.

The scary part about this, is this is a lot of people reality. Brooke lives inside a lot of us. Brooke doesn’t know what love is, how it feels, what she should do with it so the natural instinct is to grab, hold on and never let go. The fear of losing someone because you don’t know how to love them is a scary thing.

Abuse starts at different levels and also can be hard for us to recognize because we are use to trauma in our everyday life. Allison feels sorry for the abuser, she wants to help her and most importantly remain faithful and present in their relationship so that Brooke can see that love can be easy. Well, sometimes it’s not that simple or should we say that’s what makes this relationship complicated.

The Brooke That’s Inside of me, breaks down the character Brooke Scott from the actress Noble Julz point of view and how she realized that the character she played was actually who she was when the cameras cut off. What makes this all so eye opening is the character who played her girlfriend in the show, Allison was who Noble dated in real life. These characters were just not characters, but the story we were watching play out on screen is what happened behind closed doors of Noble Julz and Onyx Keesha who played Allison Young.

Catch up one Between Women season one with Brooke Scott & Allison Young and watch, The Brooke Inside of Me on Thursdays at 10am LIVE as Noble Julz breaks down how Brooke lived inside her.
